Hu Wei, Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, handed over 30,000 surgical masks and 21,000 COVID-19 prevention posters Monday to the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), Kingsley Ranawaka the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said.
The Chinese Envoy also handed over 100,000 COVID-19 prevention posters to Dr. Uthpala Amarasinghe, representative of the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB), Ministry of Health.
The masks and health guidelines posters to SLTB will be delivered to thousands of drivers, conductors and buses. And other posters will be distributed by HPB through its health network to public places (bus stands, railway stations, markets etc.), schools, hospitals, health institutions, government offices and work places in all districts island wide.
The Chinese Envoy appreciated the tremendous efforts made by the SLTB and HPB during the pandemic to prevent and control the coronavirus, and reiterated that China will always stand with Sri Lanka and jointly protect health and safety of the two peoples.
