A high-powered Chinese delegation led by former Chinese Foreign Minister and the current Communist Party Political Bureau Member Yang Jiechi assured China’s continuous assistance to Sri Lanka’s development drive.
Jiechi who arrived in Colombo yesterday , became the first ever Chines state delgate to visit the South Asian region, since the global Corona epidemic.
During a discussion with the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today, he reiterated China’s commitment to assist Sri Lanka to achieve success in its development drive.
The high-powered Chinese delegation is also scheduled to hold discussions with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today.
Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, a travel bubble was setup to confine the delegation to Colombo and restrict their engagements to just two meetings with the Head of State and the Prime Minister, under the strict health protocol prescribed by the Ministry of Health, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
