The Chinese government has extended its fullest support in developing human resources, secondary education and vocational training in Sri Lanka.
A discussion was held between the acting Ambassador of China Hu Wei and Education Minister Prof. G. L Pieris to discuss the support that the Chinese government can provide for the development in Secondary Education and Vocational Training in Sri Lanka.
Furthermore it was discussed regarding the steps taken by the Education Ministry to upgrade the Sri Lankan Education system and the support that the Chinese government can provide for a long-term programme of successful implementation.
Education Minister Prof.G. L.Peiris pointed out the assistance expected by the Chinese government to upgrade the Secondary Education and Vocational Training in the School Education system.
Measures to enhance professional skills through human resource development for factory based development initiatives by Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Tyres in the currently proposed Industrial and Investment Zone in Hambantota District were also discussed. It was specially pointed out the necessity of skills development in the construction and supply sector to accelerate the development projects. Accordingly in order to develop skills both the governments agreed to take immediate action in the upcoming months.
The Chinese Ambassador also mentioned that he is keen to empower these areas and to enhance the goodwill and mutual understanding between the two countries to achieve positive results.
In order to establish a proper cooperation and coordination between the two countries both the officials agreed to discuss further matters via video conferencing.
