Two bulk carriers with 64,500 tons of imported fertilizers from China arrived at the Port of Colombo yesterday to provide relief to farmers affected by the shortage of fertilizer in the agro-plantation sector in the country, the Sri Lanka Port Authirty (SLPA)
The Long Shore arrived at the Unity Container Terminal of the Colombo Port carrying 31,500 tons of fertilizer while the Pola Indian arrived at the new North Pier carrying 33,000 tons of fertilizer.
The Long Shore was built in 2010 and is sailing under the flag of Panama. Pola Indian was built in 2014 and is sailing under the flag of Malta.
The SLPAA stated that it is taking every step to carry out its conventional cargo operations expeditiously to facilitate essential services in the country.
