Sri Lanka’s Export Development Board (EDB) has signed a strategic cooperation letter with the top Chinese e-commerce platform, JD.com also known as Jingdong to promote Sri Lankan products in the platform, Sri Lanka’s mission in China announced.
The officials of EDB and JD.com held talks at the 3rd China International Import Export (CIIE) in Shanghai last Sunday.
JD.com is the largest retailer (online and overall) in China and it’s also a Fortune Global 500 company.
The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said that the partnership between Sri Lanka and the e-commerce platform is a breakthrough for Sri Lanka’s exports into China.
Meanwhile, EDB also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with aother leading Chinese e-commerce platform, Womai over the last week.
“The signed MoU subsequently opens the market for exporters for online trading and promotion in the national promotional section,” the EDB stated.
